It’s Dead in Here
For whatever reason, the English language has a lot of death-related figures of speech. “I’m so dead,” “I’m so hungry I could die,” and “She’s dead serious” are just a few examples. This person’s brother-in-law had the unfortunate experience of using one of these figures of speech at the worst possible time.

While there was a lull in conversation at the funeral, the brother-in-law said, “It’s really dead in here,” as a way to express how quiet it was in the building. He said it without thinking twice and immediately realized his blunder. He didn’t say it on purpose, so hopefully, the people around him were able to take it in stride!
