Crocodile Tears
It’s easy to judge someone based on how they show grief and sorrow. If someone isn’t crying hysterically over the death of a loved one, we think they’re cold-hearted. If someone is crying too much, we think they’re over-dramatic. It’s important to remember that grief is a deeply personal thing that everyone experiences differently. This story is an important reminder not to judge.
Our storyteller was praying with her cousins during their grandma’s funeral. She was secretly judging other attendees for crying because she thought they didn’t really care about her grandma’s passing. Her judgment came full circle, though, because she and her cousins started cracking up when they saw a weird ad for Crocs on the back of the prayer sheet. Their laughter was probably a result of all the stress, pain, and anxiety they felt over their family member’s passing, but other people probably thought they didn’t care.
