Have you ever heard the phrase “truth is stranger than fiction?” When it comes to historical coincidences, that saying definitely holds up. From identical twin presidents to a man surviving both the Titanic and the Lusitania sinking, history is filled with bizarre and mind-boggling moments. It’s almost as if the universe has a twisted sense of humor and likes to play practical jokes on us, mere mortals. So sit back, relax, and prepare to be mind-blown as we look at some of the craziest historical coincidences.
#1: The Titan and The Titanic
Did you know that the Titanic carried over 2,200 passengers and crew when it sank? Out of all those people, only around 700 made it out alive—less than a third of the people on board! Unfortunately, they didn’t manage to fill up and launch all the lifeboats in time to save more people.
And get this – there were only 16 wooden lifeboats and four collapsible ones, which was woefully inadequate for a ship of that size. It shows that sometimes even the best-laid plans can’t account for every possibility. It was hardly unsinkable, and this weird coincidence shows how strange the whole thing was.
