It’s Me. Hi. I’m the Problem
This person witnessed a reverend who was painfully unaware of his problematic vocabulary. To make matters worse, it happened at their grandfather’s funeral. During the reverend’s eulogy, he brought up how divided the country was and how it was such a shame. Some people agreed, but the next words out of his mouth changed that pretty quickly.

The reverend kept talking about how divided everything was and then used a racist slur. The storyteller was so shocked that they didn’t call the reverend out for his outdated racism. Looking back, they wish they had because he seemingly didn’t realize how his blatant racism was part of the very problem he was trying to talk about. Yikes.
