Honesty is the Best Policy
We are always wary of disrespecting the dead. Few people want to speak ill of someone who has passed away, even if that person was kind of awful while alive. They’re not here to defend themselves, so it doesn’t seem fair. Not everyone carries this superstition, though. Some people, like this guy’s grandfather, tell it like it is.
Our storyteller was attending her great-grandfather’s funeral. The pastor who was giving the eulogy kept talking about how great and beloved he was while alive. The pastor had obviously never met this man, because no one felt this way! The storyteller’s grandfather decided to set the record straight. He stood up during the eulogy and proclaimed that the pastor was lying because his father was actually a mean man. Talk about standing in your truth.
