Dinner Table Dialogue
Dining with the Royal Family sounds like a very stressful situation! There are so many unspoken rules, such as what fork to use, how to hold a teacup, and other requirements that can create a huge party foul if blundered. There are even rules for how dinner guests are supposed to converse with each other.
When attending a royal dinner, you never, ever speak to someone sitting across the table. Conversation is supposed to flow from your left and right, so that there is conversation around the whole table without being disruptive. In addition, seating is carefully arranged to encourage conversation. Lastly and most importantly, topics of religion, politics, and s-e-x are never to be discussed.
