Long Live History
Queen Elizabeth II was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. She served from 1952 until her death on September 8, 2022. During that time, she saw countries fall, new technologies develop, and new leaders come and go. That’s why it’s no surprise that Queen Elizabeth met every sitting US president during her reign– except for one.
Queen Elizabeth never met President Lyndon B. Johnson, which is very odd. The two world leaders repeatedly missed each other at public events, and neither of them got around to extending an invitation to the other. However, the reason the two leaders didn’t meet isn’t some kind of international scandal. Historians think that Queen Elizabeth missed the opportunity to meet President Johnson because she was pregnant with Prince Edward at the time.
