The U.S. is a big place full of unique and exciting towns scattered across the massive land. You hear a lot about “small-town America,” but what does that actually mean? There are a lot more than just sleepy little towns dotting our map; there are a lot of unique and peculiar stops along the way that are worth a stop. So, if you’ve been considering taking a road trip across the country, take this as your sign that you need to start planning it. Consider incorporating a few of these odd little towns if you’d like to get to know the county better!
#1: Casey, IL
If you’ve ever wondered where you can find several of the largest items in the world, then Casey, Illinois, is the town for you. Several Guinness Book of World Records holders are located here, and most of them were created by the same man, Jim Bolin. He made fourteen items that all held the world record, and only two have since lost their title.

Jim made the world’s largest rocking chair, wind chime, knitting needles, mailbox, golf tee, and barber shop pole, to name a few of his items. And Jim’s items aren’t the only super large objects in Casey; other people have made oversized items that haven’t made it into record books. You can see The Big Mousetrap, The Big Ear of Corn, and The Big Pizza Slicer.
