In 2012, the smallest town in the United States was Buford, Wisconsin, which had only one resident. The resident was ready to move out, so he put the town up for auction. The lucky winner of that auction was Pham Dinh Nguyen, the owner of a Vietnamese coffee company.

The new owner changed the name from Buford to PhinDeli Town Buford, which translates to “Buford Delicious Coffee Filter Town.” He still lives in Vietnam but sells his coffee at the gas station. Vietnamese coffee is famously served very strong and black, poured into a cup of sweetened condensed milk, and poured over ice.
