#13: Center, ND
Back in 1902, when Center, North Dakota, was founded, the residents named it that because they marked it as the center of the county. There wasn’t much else around then, only a small mine. There weren’t even a lot of settlers to brag about. Over a century later, the town would discover that it wasn’t the accurate center of the county, but that no longer mattered.
The same study that placed another town at the center of the county gave Center, North Dakota, an even better reason to brag: it is the exact center of North America. Of course, everybody is stunned by the perfect coincidence of its name. So, stop by this town if you ever want to be in the center of it all!
