Be sure to visit Alma, Arkansas, the self-proclaimed spinach capital of the world. And yes, of course, you’ll find a Popeye statue to be sure tourists get the point; a few of them in various sizes, actually.
If you’re wondering how a place gets designated “the spinach capital,” you aren’t alone. In the late 1980s, Alma produced over 65% of all the canned spinach in the United States, over 60 million pounds each year! Okay, you’ve convinced us, Alma. You really are the king of spinach.
