#32: Find Finger-Lickin’ Goodness in Salt Lake City, UT
Fans of this deep-fried Southern chicken may be perplexed to hear that Salt Lake City, Utah, holds the bragging rights to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Colonel Harland Sanders first started selling his now-famous chicken at a roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Depression. It did so well that in 1952, he opened his first franchise – in Salt Lake City, Utah.
That original franchise restaurant still stands there today. You can grab a bucket of chicken known for having a secret recipe or stroll through the mini-museum and take in all the KFC memorabilia house there. Check out Col. Sander’s original, iconic suit or pressure cooker that made his chicken so moist and delicious.
