#36: The Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles is basically the most important Treaty you’ve never heard of (unless you’re a history buff, in which case, props to you!). This Bad Boy was signed in 1919, officially ending World War I and laying down the law for Germany. Here’s the deal: Germany had to take the blame for the war.

They also had to pay billions of dollars in reparations (double ouch) and give up a bunch of their land and colonies (triple ouch). Talk about a major slap on the wrist! Needless to say, Germany wasn’t thrilled about the whole thing, and some historians even argue that the Treaty set the stage for World War II.
