Did you know that almost 3,000 people were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon? That’s the entire population of a small town. Another 6,000 people were injured, meaning tens of thousands of people felt the effects of the attacks. It’s hard even to wrap your head around the scale of the tragedy.

Let’s not forget about the economic impact—the attacks caused billions of dollars in damage and led to a massive overhaul of security measures in the United States. But despite all the devastation, the attacks also brought out the best in people—we saw heroism, selflessness, and unity in the face of terror.
