39. Even the Sun Hibernates
It seems we’re not the only ones with a bad habit of oversleeping during the wintertime, the sun itself just prefers to be out less. That explains a lot. Winter sunrises and sunsets are like a sleepy head hitting the snooze button—brief appearances that tease us with daylight before ducking out early. It’s as if the sun, too, feels the brunt of winter’s chill and decides to cut its workday short.
So we wake up in the dark, live through a brief moment of daylight, and then it’s back to the dark again as if the sun just said, “You know what? You guys got this, I’m going back to bed.” And there’s something oddly comforting in knowing that even the mighty sun is taking it easy, giving us all the more reason to stay snug in our blankets a little longer.
