Tina Turner sea story
“In 1995 my ship – USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59), arrived in Villefranche sûr Mer on the south coast of France for a NATO Seapower Summit. My captain, the US Navy Officer by the name of CDR Dave Britt, invited me along to carry his hat and get drinks. Ms. Turner arrived to the Villefranche’s social event with all the other ship captains to receive honorary citizenship from Villefranche.

It was a great event. She joked with sailors, danced with guests, and was pretty damn cool. She was, as I described her to my then wife, a goddess in the flesh. I was struck dumb by her. She was radiant. I’ll never forget that about her. That deployment was epic. And Dave was the best damn captain I ever had.”
