#19: Godzilla
The Godzilla movies have been around since the early 1950s, and the story clearly has a lasting appeal. For some reason, people just love a story about a giant lizard on a rampage destroying entire cities. Unfortunately, CGI didn’t exist for the first several decades worth of these films, so Godzilla was portrayed by a man in a lizard costume destroying a model city.
That was fun to watch, but let’s face it—it didn’t look at all realistic. However, thanks to advancements in special effects, today, we can see Godzilla appear to interact with humans and destroy their surroundings. Seeing a more realistic depiction of what an oversized Jurassic lizard can do to a city has made these films more terrifying.
