#33: If You Want Anything Done…
You have to do it yourself. The person in the story below is a firm believer in this mantra. Bartenders of both genders will often flirt to get good tips or just to meet new people. But that flirting shouldn’t come at the cost of all of the other customers. When it gets bad enough that someone has to pour their own beer, you know that someone isn’t doing their job properly.
Of course, we’re only generalizing here, and this isn’t always the case. It was the case here, though, and one person was tired of waiting for his beer. He simply stood up, reached across the bar, and poured himself a glass of beer. Did he serve any other customers? Did he do it nonchalantly or angrily? How did the bartender react? Did he even notice, or was he too busy flirting?
