#44: Life Finds a Way
Not only did this parent break something that the child spent their hard-earned money (or just her regular allowance) on, it wasn’t even her kid. Why didn’t she just give it back to her friend and say her kid wasn’t allowed to have it? Or at least call the parents and give it back to them. Resorting to breaking it in such a dramatic way in front of everyone is ridiculous.
This incident taught them nothing except that they needed to be more sneaky about what they were doing and what music they were listening to. See, you aren’t raising better kids, just sneakier ones with this method of parenting, so I don’t know what this mother was trying to accomplish. It sounds to me like a normal, harmless rebellious phase of a 12-year-old girl.
