I am not sure how to feel about this story; it’s pretty hilarious, but also, I feel a bit bad for this kid when he had that story busted for him. How did he feel afterward? I would not trust anything my father would say for a very long time.

But that’s a common effect when liars are brought to the light; they lose all credibility, and no one wants to listen to them. The Boy Who Cried Wolf and all that. It’s a real effect, and it is a deserved effect. Lying is not a good tactic for any situation sans one that might come with a safety risk.
