#17: A Defining Moment in the 1995 O.J. Simpson Trials
The O.J. Simpson Trial was one of the most iconic in American history. One of the defining moments in the dramatic trials came during the glove demonstration. On June 15, 1995, in front of the jury, O.J. Simpson was asked to try on a pair of gloves found at the crime scene and another pair linked to him. The prosecution had presented the gloves as crucial evidence connecting Simpson to the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

However, during the demonstration, the gloves appeared too tight and did not fit Simpson’s hands properly. Defense attorney Johnnie Cochran famously said, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” This moment had a profound impact on the trial’s outcome, casting doubt on the reliability of the evidence and ultimately influencing the jury’s decision.
