#6: Just Say No
We’ve all had friends, family members, or coworkers ask us for a favor that we’re not thrilled about. But how many of us actually say, “No, thank you. I’m not interested in doing that” to shut down the conversation? It may seem harsh, but saying no to something can save you and your relationships a lot of trouble down the line.
It’s better to be upfront and transparent with someone instead of saying, “Maybe.” A middle-ground response like “maybe” leaves the door open for the person to come back and ask you again. Saying no the first time is a way to set boundaries and maintain healthy relationships. It’s scary the first couple of times you do it, but if the person loves and respects you, they will understand.
