The Ant Hill Kids Cult
The Ant Hill Kids cult was one of the most disturbing cults in history. Led by a man named Roch Thériault, the cult was founded in 1977 and was based in Quebec, Canada. Thériault believed that he was a prophet and that the end of the world was near. He had multiple wives and forced all female members of the cult to bear his 26 children as a “religious requirement.”
But the cult’s practices went beyond just bizarre religious beliefs… Members of the cult were subjected to both physical and sexual abuse. Thériault believed that his followers needed to be punished in order to atone for their sins. He would often perform violent acts on his followers, including amputating limbs with a handsaw. The cult dissolved in 1989 after one of Thériault’s followers escaped and alerted the authorities. Thériault was eventually convicted of murder in 1993 and died in prison in 2011.
