The Monster of Miramichi
Allan Joseph Legere, aka the Monster of Miramichi, was a name that struck fear into the hearts of the people of northern New Brunswick in the 1980s. This serial killer was known for his brutal crimes. Legere’s killing spree began with the robbery and assault of an elderly couple in their convenience store. Tragically, the husband died, and the wife was also sexually assaulted. Legere was eventually caught, convicted, and sent to prison.
However, in a daring escape, Legere managed to break out of prison and went on a months-long revenge killing spree in the small town of Miramichi. The community was terrorized as Legere killed four more people before being recaptured. The Monster of Miramichi’s reign of terror came to an end, but the memory of his crimes still haunts the people of northern New Brunswick.
