Next on our list of wild medical facts is this mindblowing one about kidney transplants. Personally, I had always assumed that if they were giving someone a new kidney, they would take the old ones out. After all, I assume the person is getting a new kidney because the old ones don’t work anymore. So why leave non-functioning organs in the body?

But we have just found out that this is not the case at all! Apparently, they just leave the non-functioning organs in there. I bet that’s a cool way to be able to introduce yourself to new people: “Hi, I’m Sam, and I have three kidneys in my body.”
