#39: Helicopter Parents
Older generations will always be nostalgic for “the good old days.” There’s always a certain level of hand-wringing about younger generations and how different things are. By “different,” older people often mean “bad.” That’s not always the case, though! Some people feel that modern-day parents are way too overprotective.
Many adults remember their childhoods as largely devoid of parental supervision. They could go outside for hours and not have to worry about their parents hovering over them. The thing is, most older generations always think that newer parents and children are doing things the wrong way just because it’s different from their own experience. Kids growing up today will probably look back on their childhood 30 years ago and feel the same sense of nostalgia, too.
