Kids, gather around. We’re about to tell you all about something called a checkbook. What is a checkbook, you might ask? Well, it’s a way that previous generations kept track of their finances and spending. Yes, it was written by hand. No, it was not accessible via our smartphones. In all seriousness, who’s nostalgic for the days of checkbooks?
Many of us probably have core memories of our mom or dad balancing their checkbook at the kitchen table after work. This was before online banking and text message alerts from our banks. We will admit that we don’t really miss old-fashioned checkbooks. Balancing a checkbook could be a time-consuming chore. It was always the worst when the ledger didn’t even out.
