In 1946, a small fighter aircraft was running a routine training drill off the coast of Hawaii when it ran out of fuel. The pilot had no choice but to crash it into the water off the coast of Oahu. Fortunately, the pilot was able to swim away from the wreckage and await a rescue team.

Over eight decades later, the airplane is still lying there in the same spot where it crashed. However, it hardly looks the same because it’s been covered with coral and other undersea plants.
