A What Now?
This sea slug has a silly-sounding name but deserves more respect than that. These creatures are beautifully colorful and delight divers and scientists alike. Nudibranchs are present in every ocean, living off the ocean floor. They are part of the mollusk family, as they have a shell in their initial life stage but soon shed it.

Sadly, these creatures are all dressed up with nowhere to go and no one to impress. They can see variations of light and dark but cannot see their own remarkable colors, meaning that their intense shading doesn’t help them attract a mate. Unfortunately, they do call attention to predators instead. Oops!
