The Accidental Inventions That We’re All Grateful For

Many people like to break out the champagne to celebrate special occasions. Based on its reputation as being something fancy and fine, you might be surprised to learn that it may have been invented by accident.

As the story goes, apparently, monks in the 17th century were attempting to make wine, but because of the temperatures and altitude of the region they were in, something went wrong, and the drink ended up with a lot of carbon dioxide in it. They decided to lean into it and create the bubbly drink with which we are all acquainted. And the drink took the name of the region they were in: Champagne, France.
