Cell phones these days are so ubiquitous that it’s hard to imagine that there was a time when they didn’t exist. But there was a time when all phones were plugged into the wall, when looking something up meant cracking open the encyclopedia, and when, if you wanted to write something to your friends, you had to pass them a note or send a letter.
The development of the modern cell phone and all its functionality has involved a lot of different people and companies. But did you know that the texting that we know and love was not originally meant for public use? It was developed by a German company so that the employees could message among themselves.
