How to Start Using Lipstick: Guide for Beginners

Want to try to start using lipstick but don’t know where to start? Which brand? Do not want too dry, not too sticky .. should you dare to go red right away or start with a lighter shade and work upwards? What should one really think about when using lipstick?

Here are our top tips for starting to use lipstick.

Maybe you should not dare to go straight red when it comes to lipstick. It’s easy to feel too dressed up then. Begin gradually with a color similar to your own lip color to become comfortable.

For a beginner, we recommend starting with the lip + lip balm before going on the heavy lipstick artillery. Fill in the contours and the lips themselves with the pen and then take a lip sieve on top.

There is a big difference between what colors you like and which ones you fit in. But remember that there are absolutely no rules, you get to use the colors that you want!

It may be worth thinking about the tone of the lipstick, just as when choosing a foundation.

Check if you think it fits your skin, your colors and how your teeth look, for example. A rule of thumb is that bluer shades make the teeth look whiter and orange-yellow shades make the teeth look yellow, for example.

Choose the right texture

There is no fact here, you just have to test and see what you like. Generally, there are five different types: lip gloss, matte lipstick, creamy lipstick, glossy lipstick, and lip stain. A matte lipstick always looks good, but if you have dry lips, it’s not always suitable.

If you have dry lips, you can choose creamy or glossy lipstick or lip gloss with a lot of colors (which is not sticky or too shiny and glittery.
