To Bee, Or Not to Bee
This person made an unforgivable mistake during a childhood spelling bee, and they haven’t been able to forget it since. They were asked to spell “python,” and they immediately knew they had this competition in the bag. Without a second thought, they spelled the word as P-Y-ETH-O-N.
Basically, their brain thought that the letters “th” and their corresponding sound (“eth”) counted as one letter. To be fair, the letter pair “th” is a digraph, meaning the two letters come together to make one sound. It’s totally reasonable to make the mistake of thinking the “th” comes from one letter!
