Some parents—well, some people in general—are not good at expressing affection to their kids or anyone else. Some people feel uncomfortable with that, or they may feel that their actions ought to communicate their feelings, so their words are unnecessary.

But everyone feels better when they hear words of affection said out loud. It’s nice to have those undeniable confirmations that the person that you are with isn’t just politely tolerating you, and you aren’t just reading things into their actions that aren’t there. So tell people you love them! It will make their day.
