Women have struggled against discrimination in the workplace throughout history. The International Labour Organization estimates that women get 20% lower salaries than men worldwide. And the bias is not only in the gender pay gap but also in women’s rights when getting pregnant. Although the Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) exists to avoid discrimination in all employment-related activities, women are far from feeling safe in this aspect.
The discrimination applies to all women, including celebrities. The world-famous singer Rihanna gave an incredible performance at the 2023 Super Bowl, and her fans were over the moon. But the most surprising thing happened when the singer showed up pregnant with her second child only nine months after having her first kid. Unfortunately, the comments around the internet are not only about her show, but she has also been judged on her pregnancy.
