Oh, the police—definitely a complicated subject right now. I think there are quite a few bad apples within their ranks and some systematic problems that make it alarmingly easy for cops to behave badly without consequences. But on the other hand, I think there are a lot of cops who genuinely want to do the right thing and protect their communities.

The owners of this restaurant clearly saw that police officers are not all evil, so they wanted to do something nice for them. But that made their employees boycott them, so they dropped the free food offer, and that made the police boycott them. Those poor owners. They just wanted to do something nice, but clearly, there is no way to win here.
