#31: Druther’s
The fast-food chain formerly known as began operating in 1981 after management opted to flip the script and offer more than just burgers. By 1990, there were 145 Druther’s locations, but that would be where the restaurant’s growth would end.

As competition intensified and consumer preferences shifted, Druther’s struggled to maintain its momentum. Despite its efforts to diversify its offerings, the chain faced challenges in remaining relevant in an ever-evolving market. Eventually, economic pressures and declining sales forced Druther’s to scale back its operations, marking the end of its expansion dreams.
