#16: The Dark Knight
When the Joker burns half of Harvey Dent’s face in The Dark Knight, Harvey is essentially left with only half of a face. His eyesocket is fully exposed, as are his muscles. Yeah, it’s gross. A lesser filmmaker would have hoped to make do with prosthetics and makeup, but director Christopher Nolan opted for the best and used CGI instead.
He said that he wanted Harvey’s face to be so extreme that it was pretty unrealistic; he was worried that the audience would get depressed otherwise. He knew that was best accomplished using CGI. Although, the actor did wear a prosthetic burned scalp on his head so that he could feel a little bit in character.
