This should be a lesson to stingy landlords everywhere: if they play dangerous games, they’ll get dangerous results. First of all, turning a tenant’s heat down in the middle of winter in a very cold part of the country is just a jerky move. Secondly, it will drive the tenant to do something desperate.

While desperate times call for desperate measures, using your electric stove and a fan for heating purposes may not be an entirely safe solution. We would hate for this to cause an electrical fire. But then again, we really don’t know what we would do if we were desperate to keep warm. Hopefully, this landlord came to his senses and turned up the heat.
