#8: Fondue Dinners
Once a staple of ’70s entertainment, fondue has somewhat fallen out of fashion. Swiss restaurateur Konrad Egli sparked the craze for dipping bread into melted cheese in 1956, reaching its peak in America a decade or so later. Every home seemed to have a fondue set for hosting, a tradition that’s rare today despite kits still being sold online.

Despite the decline of cheese fondue’s popularity since its heyday, chocolate fondue emerged in the ’90s and ’00s, gaining traction at events like weddings and office parties. Seen as more contemporary and fashionable, chocolate fondue has managed to maintain its appeal, marking a sweet shift in the fondue trend from its cheesy beginnings.
