#7: Pride Aside
With the emergence of smartphones and social media, secrecy over large film projects is at an all-time high. Mega-blockbuster films can’t afford to have a script leaked or set photos shared on Twitter, so extensive measures are taken during the audition process, something even an incredible actor like Eddie Redmayne wasn’t prepared for.
Due to the intense secrecy surrounding Star Wars, Eddie was not allowed to read any actual dialogue; rather, he had to audition with lines from Pride and Prejudice. Already odd enough, it wasn’t until the very last second he was told, “you’re auditioning for the bad guy.” Eddie revealed he put “some ridiculous voice on,” and after about ten shots, they both knew it just wasn’t in the stars.
