#6: Communication Is Key
The relationship between actors and agents is symbiotic; each needs the other to thrive. Agents are responsible for booking auditions for their actors and providing them with any necessary information that will help them prepare for a successful read. But Everyone can drop the ball sometimes, and an agent can leave out a crucial part of information about your character.
Jake Gyllenhaal was already on edge as he walked into the audition because he learned there was no prepared script, so he didn’t even attempt the accent as he improvised. This apparently caused Peter Jackson to put his head in his hands and shake his head. Jake later apologized and explained that he wasn’t told he needed to read in the accent. Peter’s response? “Fire your agents.”
